The Freemasonry Museum operates in a separate apartment on the premises of the Grand Lodge of Finland. It tells the history of Freemasonry from its early days to the present day. The focus is on Finnish Freemasonry, which began in 1922.

The museum’s collection provides a good picture of the founding and development of our Freemasonry. Special attention is paid to some notable figures of the Finnish fraternity.
Jean Sibelius Sibelius (1865-1957) was a founding member of Finnish Freemasonry and composed unique, own ritual music for the fraternity, which is used in Finland, Estonia and in the Swedish lodges of the Grand Lodge of Finland. Sibelius has his own vitrine, and his membership application can even be found in the museum.
Risto Ryti (1889-1956) is our only president who was a Freemason. He also has his own vitrine. The special rarity is his personal journal from the Helsinki Central Prison, where he was imprisoned accused starting war against Soviet together with the Germans.
Other special features of the museum include the magnificent prizes of our Masonic brother Hannes Kolehmainen (1889-1966), the membership application of Eliel Saarinen (1873-1950), supported by Sibelius, and the Masonic portfolio of Infantry General Paavo Talvela (1897-1973).
Estonian Freemasonry has received its own vitrine, because after Estonia regained its independence, Freemasonry came there in its Finnish form, with the help of Finnish brothers.
The Masonic Museum is also proud of its comprehensive collection of equipment from all recognized Masonic organizations operating in Finland. The collection is complemented by, among other things, foreign objects from different countries and gifts received by the Grand Lodge of Finland.
Welcome
Non-Masons are also warmly welcome to the museum. We believe that it will tell visitors a lot about Freemasonry and its valuable ideological foundation.
